*Osman Karatay, The Turkish History in Eastern Europe   *Osman Karatay, Lord and Wizard: Discourses on God, Ruler, State and Economy in Eurasia

Anatolia is the Turkish homeland for 1000 years, but the Turkish existence in present day Ukraine extends over 24 centuries. Our history in eastern Europe is the most neglected area of Turkish history. The reasons for this neglect are research difficulties of these topics and lack of historians. But situation in our country has changed in recent years, significant academists specialised on various topics in history of this region. This work consists of contributions written by our most competent historians specialised on this region; it contains history of communities from Scythian, Sarmat to Hun, Bulgarian, Oghur, Avar, Khazar, Hungarian, Patzinak, Oghuz, Cuman, Tatar and Nogai. We should emphasize, that this work was formed by cooperative expert historians and it is in this way unique in the world.

Medians, one of ancient Middle East nations, called the priests Mag, namely big man. The Jews, who had trouble with Mags, denoted the bad tribes with this name: Gog and Magog. Hungarians were called as Mag eri and Mongolians as Moğ oğul. Turks, who’s ancestors lived in Middle East, preserved this word as bag. They called the clergymen bakçı, the rulers bag/beg, the wealthy bay. Persians, Indians and Slavs used this word both for the God and for the wealthy. Turkish priest became later bağıcı/büyücü. Greeks borrowed the word Mag from Medians and pass it to European languages; the nowadays widely used word Magic derived this way. The Turks expressed greatness with the word büg. The Saxons, English ancestors, loaned it as the word big. The word büyü (bögü) with meaning of magic was used in Scotland as bug with meaning of ghost. Is it possible, that people used in ancient time one language? Or where or what is the origin of Turks?

Osman Karatay, The Origins of Turks

Osman Karatay, Khazars: Jewish Turks, Turkish Jews and the Others, Kripto Publications, Ankara 2014

Assoc. Prof. Osman Karatay is our scientist, who has taken a step forward in research of ancient Turks in recent years. He questioned scientific thoughts, examined directly the sources instead of interpretations, in opposition to the whole world he attained new results aproaching the topic from the West to the East. He showed, that the homeland of Turks is in nowadays Bashkorkostan. He established the widely spoken, but not firmly framed connection of this region with Sumerians. He is the first one, who dated the event of Ergenekon. The ancientness of Turkishness in northern Black Sea region we also learned from him. He determined, that Oghuz Han was not a Hun, who lived in East, but a Saka khan, who lived in West. He proved the weakness of prevailing opinion, that Hungarian and Momgolian are connected with Turkish language. He exposed also another wrong ideas about ancient periods in Eurasia. He smashes down all nowadays knowledge with his proofs of ancient Turk type. This book is formed through blend of detailed information published before in books of Formation of Croation Nation (2000), Iran and Turan (2003) and Lord and Wizard (2006) and of new results, which were reached in last five years; but the former books are not repeated. As the new researches verify the results published in former books, then arise the need of collecting them all in one work. The Origins of Turks is product of great erudition and working around the clock.

Khazars are the successors of the Gokturks. They have established a long lasted state in the middle of the world (630-966). They have adopted the belief of Judaism, however; they have formed a unique structure that people from any religion, subjected to their own religious law, could live in peace together. Thus, one of the most attractive Turkish states in the history has been the Khazars. Assoc.Prof. Osman Karatay, the most important specialist of this issue in our country, introduces all of his accumulation of knowledge to the readers with this book. He offers a different way of thinking by merging the old sources on one hand and the newest publications in different languages on the other hand. He does not compensate from being scientific, but, he does not use a boring language either. Downfall of the Gokturks and the rise of Khazars, wars with Iranians, Byzantines and Bulgarians and the long struggle with Arabs, their acceptance of Judaism, ceasefire with Muslims and spreading of Islam within the state, rising of Russians and Hungarians, Khazars’ transition to a global trade center and a downfall proofing Ibn Haldun are the issues of the book. A must read book about history of Khazars.

*Nadim Macit, Establishing World Order: Action and Change Future of Islamic World, Berikan Publications, 2009.

In this study Prof. Dr. Nadim Macit aims to manifest the stages of religious discourse and to analyze the possibility of the religion and religiousness within the secular-democratic system in order to resolve the system crisis. We hope that this study contributes to the popular issues of religion, world and politics and helps to overcome the tension, misuse and distortion occurred in these fields. Readers will the answers of the related questions easier.

Could an understanding speaking the language of teologic tradition on the freedom of men produce democratic culture? Could they really mention on freedom and liberty? Why governments of Islamic government tyrannize to the society? Why do they convert freedom to captivity, democratic systems to authoritarian and totalitarian systems? What do the history of legitimizing pressure on behalf of the religion and its traces tell us? Answers of these questions couldn’t find on the area heavily composed of image, producing different meanings of Quran, developing a type of Islam matching with Copenhagen criteria and telling antimetrical story from the history of Islam. Because these questions are the issue of ideas.

Why? Why do the effective and authorized people from the Islamic World believe in that God authorized them as a warden? Why do they misuse (slander, malediction etc) it towards the people who do not adopt their understanding?  This is because of the religion or the information models, politics? Mainstream politics tied to classic teologic understanding could not produce democratic culture. Nature of power-men logic is the main obstacle. The concrete evidence of the situation is the political situation of Islamic world and the happenings in our country.
