Prof. Zeki KAYMAZ
Prof. Kaymaz was born in Ankara in 1957. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara and afterwards he became a Bachelor student in the Department of Turkish Language at the Faculty of Language, History and Geography in Ankara University in 1974. Prof. Kaymaz took his bachelor degree in 1978 and master degree in 1981 at this faculty. He worked in Ankara Social Insurance Institution in 1980-82. From 1982 to 1984 he worked as a literature teacher in Batman.
In 1984 his academic career started as a research assistant in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Education in İnonü University. He started his Ph.D. education here and he graduated in 1989. At the end of 1989 he was appointed as Assistant Professor to the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Education in İnonü University.
In 1992 he went to Morocco to work as a Turkish lecturer at the Faculty of Human Sciences and Literature in Rabat Muhammed V University for 2 years. In 1994 he went back to İnönü University. Prof. Kaymaz became an Associate Professor in 1997. In 1998 he started his work in the Institution of Turkish World at Ege University. He was appointed as a Full-Professor to the Department of Turkish Languages and Dialects there in 2003. Since then he has continued his studies in the same Institution.
Prof. Kaymaz knows German and Arabic and French (intermediate level). He is married and has two children.
Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Abdullah ÜSTÜN
He was born in Demirkent village in Yusufeli Province, Artvin in 1979. He started his primary school education here and completed in Karşıyaka Alaybey Elementary School (currently named as Selçuk Yaşar Primary Education School) in İzmir. In 2001 he completed his secondary and high school education in Karşıyaka High School, İzmir. He took his bachelor degree from the Department of History at the Faculty of Language, History and Geography in Ankara University.
He started his graduate study in the Department of Turkish History at the Institution of Turkish Studies, Ege University in 2003 and completed in the Department of History at the Institution of Social Sciences at Balıkesir University by presenting his work titled “ A Source of Turkic History: De origine actibusque Getarum”. He got his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Turkic History in the Institution of Social Sciences at Ankara University by representing his thesis titled “The Huns in the Late Roman Historiography: Early Turkic Existence in the Western Eurasia”. In 2009 he has taken education for nine months in the Faculty of Philology in Saint Petersburg University as a scholar of Russian Federation trainer-language scholarship. In 2015 he has been in the Department of History at Princeton University as a visiting fellow by TUBİTAK post-doc scholarship.
He has worked as research assistant in the Department of Turkic History at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Balıkesir University in 2005-2008 and in 2013-2014 and in the Department of Turkic History at the Faculty of Language, History and Geography in Ankara University in 2008-2013. Since 2014 he has worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Turkish History at the Institution of Turkish World Studies in Ege University.
His main field of study is Early Turkic nations in Western Eurasia and he examines Late Roman Historiography as the sources of Turkic history.
He reads in English and Russian and knows Latin, Greek and French (basic).
He is married and father of Konçuy.
